Contemplate this thought:

"Nothing has more retarded the advancement of learning
than the disposition of vulgar minds
to ridicule and vilify
what they cannot comprehend."

Samuel Johnson
(1751)

You might think I have my students, or rather, some of my students in mind.
I don't.
I have in mind a colleague.
My nemesis.
My thorn in the flesh who must be in my life for my own sanctification.

Whatever the reason, this person does not, rather, has not yet stunted my attempt toward the advancement of learning within my classroom. But the attempts of ridicule have surely worn an area of aggravation within me. At least callouses follow irritation.

Here's hoping for some tough callouses to form this next quarter!
